SEAMUS Conference and Music Festival

Peforming Echo Organism as part of the festival concert series.

Lecture and workshop on Signal Crate.

May 20-23, 2026 @ University Of Texas, San Antonio; San Antontio, TX

I will be performing my work Echo Organism as well as running a lecture and workshop on my software Signal Crate, used to write the piece. Final schedule pending, I will be performing on Thursday and conducting the workshop on Friday that week.

Calling upon the aesthetics of bio art, feedback systems, and noise music, Echo Organism is an exploration in the reactions of sound within the extremes of natural and artificial resonant chambers. The performer wires contact microphones around their throat where they are routed into a feedback matrix system before being fed into a computer. Using the Signal Crate framework developed by the composer, a series if resonant filter banks and custom convolution modules maneuver the behaviors of imaginary spaces. Drawing on inspiration from early examples of live electronic music performance by Robert Ashley and Pauline Oliveros, Echo Organism aims to see how far the limits of technology, in this case both digital and analog, can be pushed before starting to unravel.
